Castle Pines Village has 3,000 residents and is a gated, master planned community built around the privately owned Castle Pines Golf Club and the Castle Pines Country Club.  Every home in Castle Pines Village has a 24 hour security system and round-the-clock security guards patrolling the neighborhood, the 18 hole Castle Pines golf course was designed by Jack Nicklaus in 1979 and has been home to The International, a PGA Tour event since 1986.

History of Castle Pines

The Arapaho and Cheyenne Native American tribes were the first to settle in the area around Castle Pines.  White prospectors were later drawn to the area by a promise of gold and by land opened through the Homestead Act of 1862.  An early path, the Daniel Park Trail just north of Castle Pines brought many more travelers headed south from Denver to Colorado Springs and beyond. Because it was well-traveled, the road became a favored spot of highwaymen who robbed stage coaches passing through.

Douglas County, named after the well-known 19th century orator, was formed in 1871 Many ranchers began to settle into the territory to live and work. The Castle Pines subdivision began to develop in the 1980’s when the Castle Pines golf course designed by Jack Nicklaus opened. Douglas County grew faster than any other county in the country during the 1990’s.
